An orchestra in Mozart formation for a repertoire from the classical period
The classical session commences on October 28th at the Saline royale in Arc-et-Senans, under the direction of Amandine Beyer, who makes her debuts alongside the orchestra. The classical session allows the musicians to come together in half the usual ensemble size, focusing on repertoire from the 18th century (Haydn, Mozart, Beethoven, etc.). Over the course of a week, the orchestra will work with trainers specialized in historically informed practices and orchestras dedicated to this repertoire. Brass sections, for example, will have the opportunity to try out 18th-century instruments, while string sections will work with 18th-century bows. All musicians will have the opportunity to explore questions of editing and interpretation.
In May 2025, OFJ musicians had the exceptional opportunity to take part in a day-long workshop led by Amandine Beyer at the Théâtre du Châtelet. With exacting standards, attentiveness and kindness, she offered a unique working environment. A deeply musical and human approach, focused on process rather than performance. Initially, only a duo of performers was to be selected to play the solo parts in our autumn concerts. But the richness of the exchanges and the artistic intensity of the day led Amandine Beyer to make an unexpected choice: in the end, two duos were selected.
The solo parts of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Concertant Symphony in E-flat Major will be played by Nicolas Debart and Émilie Moreau on violin, and Léonard Guillery and Antoine Rambaud on viola.
